face="Times New Roman">As you begin your new League year, you will find two
special projects completed this summer to help local leagues as they prepare for
a productive year.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>They can be
found on the Local League Resources page of the state website (find the link on
the left side of the homepage). The Local League Resources section of the
website has been completely reorganized and updated and now includes a separate
Membership section.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Take a look and
please let me know of any additional changes, which you believe would make it
more useful.<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>

face="Times New Roman">The first new project is that the “Welcome to the LWV”
brochure has been updated and reprinted with an attractive presentation.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>I have found this document useful when I
meet with new or prospective members and share with them what the League is all
about.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The document is available
electronically on the Local League Resources page of the website, under
Membership.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>It can also be
ordered at the very low price of 50 copies for $10.00 plus tax and shipping
through the State Office.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Let us
know how it is working for you.<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>

face="Times New Roman">Second, the Membership section of “In League” has been
reorganized and updated. The document “In League” is available on the Local
League Resources page of the website; scroll down to the Membership Chapter
which is totally revised.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The most
important guidelines are found in the first responsibility of the Membership
Director’s job description: <U><STRONG>form a committee</STRONG></U> and
<U><STRONG>develop a written plan</STRONG></U> for the year to recruit and
retain members.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>If you are new as
chair or want to strike out in a refreshing new direction, read on from there
for a wealth of ideas. <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Any one of
them will give you a great start for the year.<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>

from their regional directors about conference calls following the September
state board meeting.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>One item on
the agenda will be to share with each other your membership plans as noted
