is set up in such a way that all LL Membership Chairs receive e-mails from the
National League when they have a new Nationally Recruited Member (NRM).
The subject of the e-mails will be: "Member Changed or Added to your
League." <b><u>BUT</u></b>, the only way that the LL Membership
Chair will be receiving this e-mail is if their e-mail address is correct in
the National Database <b><u>and</u></b> if you they have been marked as a
League Officer on your National Database Roster (if you don’t know how to
update your League Officers on the National database, please feel free to call
Stephanie at the state League office, she has instructions and can walk you
through the process.) <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>When you
receive this e-mail from National, you should immediately welcome this member
to your League and try to get them to renew locally after that. Samples
letters can be found on the state League website under <a
href="http://lwvny.org/localLeague/InLeague.html#membership"><span
style='color:windowtext'>Membership Resources</span></a>. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>PMP is not
charged for nationally recruited members (NRMs) or for members who renew
through the LWVUS. However, state and local Leagues will receive a $5
rebate for each NRM that is affiliated with their League. The credit is a
means of dues sharing from the national to the local/state level to help defray
the cost of providing services to these members. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>As an aside,
if the state League gets a new member from either their website or from a state
League publication, the entire (100%) membership dues amount is send to the
local League in the members area.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>If you have
any questions re this process, don't hesitate to call or e-mail me. You
may want to know I get copies of all these emails from national and as of today
more than 100 people have joined at that level since July 2009. These
people took the time and effort to join without direct work on your part
locally. It is a win-win for all of us. Get them involved if you
